Founded in 1852 and located in Medford, Massachusetts, Tufts is a major research university with the intimate campus of a liberal arts college. About 80% of its students are enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences, and the remaining 20% study in the School of Engineering. Across all disciplines, undergraduates have plenty of opportunity in engage in research; in fact, there is even an Undergraduate Research Fund designated solely for students who are working on research projects and theses.
The University’s Boston/Chinatown campus is home to the health sciences program, along with several graduate departments. The main Tufts campus in suburban Medford creates a close-knit community, while a short commute to Boston gives students easy access to one of the most eclectic and historic cities in the country. Boston’s wide range of urban amenities includes museums, restaurants, clubs, cafes, and Revolutionary War-era sites.
