The University of Georgia is a public research university in Athens, Georgia. Founded in 1785, it is the first state-chartered university in the United States. It is also one of the Georgia’s largest public universities. The University’s sixteen colleges and schools offer a wide range of academic programs, such as Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Mass Communication, Education, and Public Health. Twenty-two University of Georgia students have been named Rhodes Scholars; their ranks include American physicist Eugene T. Booth and American psychiatrist Hervey M. Cleckley.
