Founded in 1831, New York University is the largest private university in the United States. It’s comprised of 14 institutes, colleges and divisions that occupy 5 major centers in Manhattan, including the Stern School of Business and the Tisch School of the Arts. In addition, NYU has a newly established campus in Abu Dhabi as well as an extensive study abroad program, with educational and internship opportunities in more than 20 countries. Its main campus, conveniently located in Washington Square of Greenwich Village–one of the city’s most lively and creative neighborhoods–gives students access to all of the opportunities that NYC has to offer.

Despite the large size of NYU, the university creates a close knit environment for its students through mentoring programs, student organizations and readily available campus housing. In fact, nearly 11,500 undergrads live in one of NYU’s 20 residence halls, 7 of which are designated solely for first year students. In addition, the university has an extensive array of resources that are available to all students, including more than 400 student organizations and hundreds of athletic opportunities and residential hall activities.
