Founded in 1764 in Providence, Rhode Island, Brown University is the seventh-oldest college in America and is a member of the Ivy League. Brown is known for its innovative curriculum that allows students tremendous flexibility in designing their educations. With no general requirements to fulfill, undergraduates can map out their own course of study. Brown tends to attract highly motivated and self-starting students who thrive in this academic freedom. The Alpert Medical School and the School of Engineering are among Brown’s many graduate programs.

The Princeton Review recently voted Brown the #1 college in America for happiest students. Brown students enjoy a rich array of pursuits outside the classroom, from rock bands and Division 1 sports teams to community service and independent scientific research. Most undergrads live in on-campus residence halls, which border scenic quads and create close-knit communities within the larger student body.
