Washington University in St. Louis (commonly known as Washington University) is a private research university in St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1853, it is considered one of the best research universities in the United States. Its undergraduate program is ranked 13th among all U.S. universities, and 20 of the University’s graduate programs have been ranked in the top 10 in their respective fields. Washington University has seven undergraduate and graduate schools that offer approximately 1,900 courses in more than 300 academic programs. The University is widely recognized for its first-rate business, social work, and medical schools.

Washington University boasts 200 registered student organizations, including a film society, choral groups, fraternities/sororities, a literary magazine, and a television station. The school also hosts a variety of sports programs, including bowling, diving, fencing, and sailing. Washington University students enjoy St. Louis’s vibrant performing arts and music scene, as well as the city’s world-class tourist attractions.
